How to know you have a good place to grow old

Making your area a good place in which to grow old entails looking at what you already offer and improving on that.

Also in this area of the website, we look at various approaches to making an area a good place in which to grow older. We look at strategic approaches, taking a whole place approach and working with partners, the voluntary sector and volunteers, and also have a wealth of resources for councillors and leaders.

In particular, the resources here will help you think through how to put in place the key elements that experience has shown need to be addressed if a council is going to make good progress on this agenda. These building blocks include:

  • Having a proper vision
  • Showing strong leadership to champion the agenda
  • Involving older people
  • Working across the whole council and other parts of the system.
