Care Bill

Based closely on the draft Care and Support Bill published by the Department of Health (DH) on 11 July 2012, the Bill aims to focus care and support legislation on the wellbeing of individuals.

For a number of years local government has been at the forefront of making the case for change in the way that support and care is commissioned and delivered and we broadly support the proposals set out in the Bill.

Having supported the Law Commission's inquiry on social care and its recommendations to reform adult social care law, we are therefore pleased to support the principle of a single legal framework. This will give greater clarity to legal entitlements to care and support.
