Child sexual exploitation in Rotherham: some issues for local government

This report from the Communities and Local Government Committee is a preliminary examination of issues raised in relation to child sexual exploitation in Rotherham, and raises questions about local government accountability and governance.

The report argues for new arrangements to bring to account officers still in post or who have moved on from an authority when serious questions about their past performance emerge, and also highlights concerns about the effectiveness of scrutiny and challenge within Rotherham. The committee also suggests that Ofsted, at least in part, failed the children of Rotherham.
