Commissions

The Commissions provide a focus for the needs and concerns of rural, urban and fire authorities. The Fire Commission is also open to principal authorities with a fire and rescue service.

  • The Urban Commission: a forum for member authorities whose areas are wholly or partly urban.
  • The Rural Commission: a forum for member authorities with an interest in rural affairs.
  • The Fire Commission: a forum for all combined fire and rescue authorities and principal authorities with a fire and rescue service.

The Rural, Urban and Fire Commissions have a steering and or management committee which may act on behalf of the commission (Rural Policy Review Group, Urban Steering Group, Fire Services Management Committee).

Membership, remit, agendas, decision notes and associated papers for the commissions are available to member authorities by accessing the individual commission pages in this section. Agenda papers are sent by post only to those on the commission itself. Those who wish to attend meetings of the commission should inform the contact officer in advance. Contact officer details appear on each commission index page.
