The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse has published a recommendation for the Local Government Association to draft a code of practice for councils responding to civil claims of child sexual abuse. We have accepted this recommendation and will update on our progress here.
We have worked with several member councils and national organisations to develop a draft code of practice, incorporating findings of the independent inquiry and the experiences of councils that have been working to support victims and survivors. Options for consultation on this draft are currently being considered, with an ambition to publish the code in November 2021.
