Culture, tourism and sport

Tourism infrastructure, investment in culture and a vibrant local sports scene all help deliver on economic development, public health and community cohesion.

How we support culture, tourism and sport

The LG Group lobbies on your behalf for:

  • councils to be recognised as the principal deliverer of culture, tourism and sport services
  • the regulatory and cost burdens on councils to be minimised
  • the benefits of the 2012 Games to be spread throughout the UK, through the involvement of local government
  • licensing fees to be set locally.

We can help you through:

  • peer reviews based on the culture and sport improvement toolkit
  • other direct support from member and officer peers with relevant expertise and experience.
