Energy is already a mature buying market with most councils already part of a buying consortia however, these range from a small consortium of just two councils through to over 80.

This is a complex commodity market and the pricing can vary dramatically dependant on international markets. The work project is focussing on what new opportunities there are for the sector including:

  • Demand reduction
  • Improved decision-making
  • Better policy understanding to inform procurement choices
  • Process efficiency and process improvement
  • Easier and clearer risk management
  • Overall procurement cost reduction
