We wanted to find out whether the plan-making support we provide to councils has made much of a difference. So we asked someone to investigate. They looked at the work we had done with 30 councils and interviewed 20 of them. The conclusion? We do have a positive impact; of 107 recommendations, only 15 were either not, or only partly implemented. We gave confidence, helped authorities to focus and 'do the right thing'. But always wanting to improve and do better for councils, the report also contains some recommendations which we will take on board.
