PAS delivers a programme of councillor support focused on the different elements of planning.
When we announce details and dates of councillor specific session for the coming years they are added to this page.
We also run events as part of our wider support programme which councillors are often welcome to attend.
LGA New councillors’ introduction to planning
online event, 31 May, 10am to 11.30am
With the local government elections fast approaching next week, PAS are working with the LGA to deliver a short session to introduce planning for councillors. It will be useful for new councillors and experienced councillors who would like a refresh on the frequently changing planning agenda.
This online session will be free to attend for local authority councillors and will run from 10am to 11.30am on Wednesday 31st May.
This is part of a wider programme delivered by the LGA to introduce new councillors to key areas of local government work.
Delivered by experienced members of the PAS team and a councillor peer the short session will explain the planning process, give clarity to some of its complexities and highlight the importance and different roles that councillors have interacting with the process.
We will be covering three main areas in the session:
- An overview of the planning system and the councillors roles within it
- The role of decision making at committee, and
- An update on some of the recently, or soon to be changing, parts of the planning system.
The session will be recorded and we will be making the recordings of the presentations available for others to access.
