Public service reform

The Open Public Services White Paper was launched by the Government in July 2011. It follows the Modernising Commission Green Paper released in December 2010. In this section you can read the full version of the white paper as well as an β€˜On the day briefing' which summarises the white paper's main themes and our key messages on behalf of the sector. We will also be publishing examples from the sector when available.

LGA report: 'Keep it REAL – Responsive, Efficient, Accountable, Local services'

This report outlines local government's key messages on public service reform. It celebrates the fact that councils are in advance of the rest of the public sector and highlights examples of councils improving services, saving money and discovering new ways of working. It also publishes a range of recommendations to the Government on how to push forward on the public service reform agenda and allow local government the freedom to work with partners and citizens at a local level to achieve what is best for their local communities.
