The case studies in this publication show the innovations that can be achieved by local areas collaborating within regions on health issues that can best be tackled at scale.

This report forms part of the Local Government Association (LGA) evaluation of sector-led improvement. It provides a quantitative assessment of sector performance and how this has changed since 2009/10.

In this report we hope councils and their partners will find useful advice for best meeting the duty to refer responsibilities, along with examples of what genuine cooperation looks like from within England and Wales.

Results of a survey of readers’ views on first magazine and firstonline, the LGA’s membership magazine, published in print monthly. The survey sought feedback from readers on the magazine’s current content and possible future developments.

Results from a survey of local authorities that explored recent changes by central government to both funding and policy in the early years sector. The survey focused in the cap on central spend, maintained nursery schools, early years entitlements, provision for disadvantaged children and early years practitioners.
