The Local Government Association and St Basils led a sub-group of the Rough Sleeping Advisory Panel on Monday 7 August 2023. The sub-group ran for 90 minutes to scrutinise and assess the progress made against the commitments made in the cross-government ‘Ending Rough Sleeping for Good’ strategy and highlight future and wider delivery challenges.

In June 2023, the Local Government Association (LGA) conducted a survey to capture data on the LGA Model Councillor Code of Conduct (the “Model code") to gauge the impact of the Model code in councils.

The LGA is eager to identify how it can assist councils to decide on whether to, how to or when to acquire its shopping centres, and therefore commissioned this study to identify best practice lessons that can be used to aid councils in their decision making and future involvement.

In summer 2023, the Rough Sleeping Advisory Panel set up three sub-groups to focus on prevention, led by the Local Government Association and St Basils; recovery and intervention, led by Housing Justice and Thames Reach; and transparent and joined-up systems, led by the Centre for Homelessness Impact and London Councils.

The LGA’s Research and Information Team circulated an online survey to Directors of Housing at English local authorities which own housing stock. The purpose of the survey was to assess the potential impact of the introduction of new standards being introduced for the professionalisation of the housing sector.

The LGA commissioned Coram to develop a series of six case studies exploring various elements of family hubs delivery across some councils in England.
