This Department for Health and Social Care supplement to the LGA’s Spending Review submission sets out further proposals which we would like to work with the Government on implementing in relation to the Department for Health and Social Care.

This Spending Review presents an opportunity to reset public spending in a way that is fit for the future, flexible to allow for the delivery of local priorities, and empowers councils to achieve the ambition for our communities that central and local government share.

In the 2020 Spending Review, the Chancellor announced a new Brownfield Land Release Fund to support local authorities bring forward sites for housing development and self and custom-build serviced plots. In response the One Public Estate programme launched the Self and Custom Build Fund.

This report is part of a series of monthly surveys of all councils in England and Wales collecting key workforce data on how the sector is responding to COVID-19. An online survey was emailed to heads of human resources, or a nominated contact, in councils from England on the second Wednesday of the month. The data requested related to the week ending the preceding Friday.
