We know councils across the country are currently receiving calls for changes to the names of estates and streets and the removal of statues - alongside objections to such proposals.


Building cohesive communities is central to councils’ role as leaders of place. Whether or not a proposed change takes place, councils want to ensure community cohesion is maintained and enhanced as a result.
