Understanding equality is essential to the effective design and delivery of local services. It is at the heart of effective, efficient and transparent decisions, including how to implement spending cuts, devolve power to communities and move to new ways of working.

This event will bring together senior representatives and politicians from authorities at the 'excellent' level of the Equality Framework for Local Government (EFLG) to discuss how they are continuing the use the EFLG to meet the challenges of making difficult decisions around budget setting and allocating and prioritising resources.
Colleagues from the Government Equalities Office will discuss and debate the review of the Public Sector Equality Duty. The day will provide an invaluable opportunity to discuss future challenges in a complex and dynamic policy environment. Delegates will be encouraged to develop their thinking on the challenges they face during the panel session, and share learning and innovative solutions in the learning workshops. Representatives from the authorities at the 'excellent' level of the EFLG will lead these sessions and use specific good practice to guide and inform these discussions.
