Scrutiny toolkit for adult services
This following publication, 'Ten questions to ask if you are scrutinising the transformation of adult social care', was commissioned from the Centre for Public Scrutiny (CfPS) by LGA (previously the IDeA).
Adult social care is currently undergoing major changes to transform the way services are designed and delivered. The guide identifies main elements in the transformation programme. These will allow scrutiny committees to assess the extent to which their local authority is planning, commissioning and delivering better social care.
The aim is to enable overview and scrutiny committees to consider the whole process of reform, to see how the elements fit together and how they impact on each other and the wider provision of social care and health.
The following will find this useful:
- Local councillors involved in the scrutiny process.
- Council officers who are involved with and support the scrutiny process.
- Executive councillors, directors of adult social care.
