EU funds accessible for all councils after 2013

New EU budget proposals confirm that vital economic development, skills and cooperation programmes will continue in all areas from 2014 to 2020, and exact figures will be confirmed next year. This is good news for councils, and the LG Group has been working hard in Whitehall and Brussels to protect this investment, worth over £8 billion in UK from 2007 to 2013. There is a long way to go though, and both the EU and government want greater control over spending. The LG Group will continue to push for EU funds to take into account the specific and diverse needs of places.
