Work Local is the LGA's positive vision for an integrated and devolved employment and skills service.

Our 2022 behavioural insights conference spotlighted examples of work by councils to address the challenges of climate change, sustainable travel and health inequalities, and was attended by 540 delegates across the sector.

This outcomes and improvement framework was commissioned by the LGA and the Association of Directors of Adult Services (ADASS) working with a steering group including sector led improvement staff, a Director of Adult Social Services (DASS), experienced staff from the learning disability sector and a representative of family carers of people with a learning disability. It’s been developed and refreshed regularly to make sure its relevant.

Resources to support councils in building more equal, inclusive and cohesive communities.

The LGA’s Workforce team provides advice and support to councils on equalities, diversity, and inclusion in the workforce.

Our leadership and managerial development programmes offer support to local politicians and officers to promote fairness, tackle inequality and enable greater diversity and inclusion.

Working differently with communities can have significant impacts on people’s health and wellbeing.

Our peer support offer to councils includes access to bespoke peer support and equalities frameworks to support councils to addressing equalities, diversity, and inclusion.
