The LGA is urging the Government to use the Spring Budget to extend funding for suicide prevention projects.

A record number of children with mental health problems were seen by social workers last year, an increase of more than a half in five years, latest figures show.

“A dedicated plan to promote, protect, support and develop careers in social care, alongside parity of pay and terms and conditions with the NHS for comparable roles, both strengthen the wellbeing and recognition of those who work in this essential vocation, and benefit the people who draw on care.”

The LGA pays tribute to the social care workforce and the vital work and support they delivered through the COVID-19 pandemic and remember those who sadly lost their lives.
