Shoppers are being warned about buying highly toxic skin lightening creams from a booming illegal market in cosmetics.

"We are pleased at the plans to tackle high strength cheap alcohol like white ciders and strong lagers. More alcohol-free and lower-strength cider, wine, beer and spirits are needed to help tackle a ticking time-bomb caused by drink-related health problems, reduce alcohol-related crime and disorder, meet growing demand for them and help ease the pressure on the pub trade."

Adding an extra shot to someone’s drink without them knowing is spiking, councils and police chiefs are warning students today.  

As the summer festival season gets underway, councils are warning that because of outdated licensing fees, local taxpayers are heavily subsidising some commercial events and are calling for fees to be updated – a plea that extends across the whole licensed sector.

“Councils know their local areas best and target reduced resources at the riskiest businesses, while national co-ordination through the Food Standards Agency also helps to ensure that areas of the food industry most at risk are generally targeted accordingly."
