Northumberland County Council have drafted a retrofit action plan based on their learnings from the LGA Local Retrofit Action Planning (LRAP) training programme.

The Local Government Association’s Digital Connectivity Programme awarded funding to South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council to create a new post for a ‘Community Digital Connectivity Manager’ to work with communities to assist with digital connectivity issues.

Poverty prevention and alleviation is a priority for East Devon District Council. The council set up a working panel in 2020 to lead the creation of a poverty strategy and action plan, and then to monitor progress against it. The strategy has five objectives – including to help people on low incomes build financial resilience and reduce indebtedness.

As part of its approach to cost of living, Bristol City Council has created a network of more than 80 warm and accessible community-led spaces in established places of connection such as community centres, children’s centres and faith spaces, providing extra activities and capacity during the winter.

London Borough of Enfield partnered with digital technology company OnePlanet to collaborate and develop the company’s existing sustainability platform to support the council to achieve their climate action targets.

Working in partnership, Worcestershire County Council, Warwickshire County Council and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council collaborated on a heating system replacement programme following a successful bid for £325,000 from National Energy Action’s Warm and Healthy Homes Fund.

Worcestershire County Council declared a climate emergency in July 2021. Under the council’s Sustainability Policy, the council has committed to not only reducing their own operational carbon footprint but also to support businesses and other Worcestershire organisations to improve their environmental performance too.

Inequity, the systematic difference in health outcomes of populations due to avoidable antecedent factors [1], can be reduced by redistributing public resources.

‘Be Bold, Be Birmingham’ was the memorable strapline that Birmingham City Council developed to promote its ‘2022 Commonwealth Games Proud Host City’ narrative. This case study explores how the council worked with this theme to promote civic pride and engage with all communities across the city.
