The Dorset Councils Partnership needed to ensure that they were not only gaining best value from current commercial and income activities but investigating and investing into future possibilities and opportunities.

The programme helped Harrow through a learning curve around commercial property investment that would have taken much longer without the LGA Productivity Experts Programme.

Following a change in organisational structure and political leadership, the council commissioned a corporate peer challenge from the LGA which was completed in November 2015.

Rugby Borough Council recognised that it needed to improve the commercial awareness and acumen of its key staff. The council was already delivering some services commercially but there needed to be a step change in the breadth and depth of our offer. By working with a commercial expert we wanted to help our managers and team leaders to understand how to think more commercially. This case study forms part of our productivity experts programme.

Pendle Borough Council is a Lancashire District Council that has seen a 54 per cent reduction in its core revenue funding between the periods of 2010 to 2017.

Great Yarmouth has sought to reinvigorate and modernise its long-standing joint venture with Norse.  The joint venture was established in 2003 and delivers all the council’s environmental / ‘clean and green’ services including waste collection, street cleansing and grounds maintenance. 

Rother District Council (RDC) wished to increase the take-up of payment by annual direct debit for the garden waste collection in order to reduce processing and chasing costs. This was specifically to reduce the number of cheques being received, as is the most costly method of payment for the council. This case study forms part of our productivity experts resource.

Support from the Productivity Experts Programme was secured to assist with the design and delivery of a new joint approach to regeneration and economic growth for the recently established shared Regeneration service of Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council.
