Eastleigh Borough Council is increasing female activity levels by running a year-long sports promotion campaign in partnership with This Girl Can.

South Staffordshire District Council have developed a ten-point plan for their local economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, prioritising those areas where the council can make a real impact over both the short and long-term, and putting strong relationships with businesses and partners as the foundation.

Broxtowe Borough Council are supporting small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the borough by developing new commercial units to boost inward investment and create new jobs. The council was successful in bidding for funding from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to develop these units in response to audits that were carried out by the council to understand the needs of SMEs in the borough.

New Forest District Council commissioned social research agency Social Engine to work with them to develop a new approach to tackle littering in the New Forest. By displaying novel communications on advertising trailers at three sites, and dispensing rubbish bags, the intervention reduced litter by 10.8 tonnes (29 per cent) in one month and saved an estimated £10,000 in waste collection costs.

Charnwood Borough Council set up a dedicated business compliance team at the start of the pandemic to support retail businesses and hospitality venues.

Lancaster City Council set up a COVID-19 Safe Award for local shops, restaurants and pubs to act as a guide to the public that the businesses were adhering to the local guidance.

Gateshead set up a COVID-19 business compliance team to ensure restrictions and safety guidelines were adhered to and helped local businesses cope with change.

As soon as COVID-19 hit, a pan-Sussex enforcement cell was set up which included the police, Brighton and Hove City Council, the two county councils and the network of district and borough councils.
