The Earl's Court redevelopment site spans approximately 28 hectares (69 acres). The site includes the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, a railway depot and the Gibbs Green and West Kensington housing estates. The developer has submitted two planning applications to two local authorities, as the site spans two areas.

It is critical that people have the right accommodation to meet their needs to ensure sustainable housing solutions.

In Greater Manchester, we have set a challenging target of a carbon neutral city-region no later than 2038. Urgent action is needed to put us on a pathway towards achieving this goal which must include tackling the residential component of carbon emissions.

Plymouth City Council commissioned this study to establish whether other councils, which face similar viability challenges, are successfully using additional delivery instruments or mechanisms that could be adopted by them to increase affordable housing delivery.

This research was used to develop communications to re-frame sheltered housing and to promote residents to ‘downsize’ into smaller properties. These were to be sent to council residents and evaluated using a Randomised Controlled Trial.

Ashford Council has had to hold granting planning permissions on a number of planning applications, for schemes which are caught by the issue nutrient neutrality. Around 90 per cent of site allocations in the Local Plan, and currently around 5,800 dwellings in over 170 planning applications, have been affected.

Aiding residents to downsize their property into a more suitable home for their needs, therefore freeing up family-sized homes for homeless households.
