Public services are changing because taxpayers demand it; they want the public sector to be more affordable, give better value for money and put individuals and families in control of the services they use.
We in local government know this – councils are not only the most efficient part of the public sector but the most accountable,reforming and innovative too. In the face of unprecedented economic challenges, vastly reduced public spending and rising demand for services, we need to build on this record.
