LG Challenge 2020-21

LG Challenge sees the best and brightest local government officers compete in a series of real-life challenges around the country.

All LGA events have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  We wish to assure you that the health and safety of all our participants, colleagues and their families is our highest priority. We are working with our challenge hosts to re-schedule the challenges. Please follow us on twitter for further updates.

Master problem solvers who are passionate about delivering the best for the residents they serve, contestants will come up with innovative solutions to the challenges faced by local government from creating new tourist destinations to saving millions in adult social care. With a Bruce-Lockhart scholarship worth up to £10,000 for the winner, you’ll have an opportunity to make a real and long-lasting impact in your area, as well as giving your CV a substantial edge.

In early 2020 prior to the pandemic, 10 contestants tackled two out of five tough real-life challenges at Surrey County Council and Pembrokeshire Council. Remaining challenges, spanning front line, financial, creative and leadership challenges will be hosted in three further councils across the country. At these future challenges contestants will continue to develop and hone their people and political management skills, their business acumen and their presentation style and gain valuable media experience.
