LGA research into support for councillors experiencing abuse – Focus Groups

Many of you came to the workshop focusing on Civility in Public Life. The LGA has launched an exciting project looking at how councils and other agencies can support councillors with issues of abuse and intimidation by the public. This is a rising issue in local government that the LGA are keen to help councils grapple with. Our researchers will be running two focus groups in late November for council officers and elected members looking at the barriers and solutions to providing better support for councillors with issues of abuse and intimidation.

We are seeking councillors with lived experience of abuse and intimidation by the public or other experience of these issues to contribute to the elected member workshop. The focus groups will be conducted virtually. Attendees will not be named in the research, and no comments will be attributed to particular individuals or councils without express permission. The work is being undertaken by Riber Consultants Limited; please email [email protected] if you would like to put yourself forward to attend the focus groups.
