Cheshire East Council has the highest age demographic in the northwest, with one in 20 people over 65 having a form of dementia. The council with its partners worked with local people to develop and deliver a social media resource and peer support network called DemenShare.com. The website provides advice and support to carers and people suffering from dementia. It has the potential to reduce the number of people who seek help late or in a time of crisis because it signposts users to information about services. During the first six months of its launch, the site received 2,113 unique visitors.
