Improvement hub

Responding to a call from councils, the LGA is creating a new online hub that brings together practical help for local government about innovation and efficiency into one place.


Developed with local government, for local government, a range of case studies, guidance, tools, performance data, training and other resources will be made available to help councils continue to deliver value for money and better outcomes for communities.

An online self-improvement tool will help councils identify improvement opportunities and useful support, such as peer challenge or wider sector-led resources, focused on key areas:

  • understanding of the local place and priority setting
  • leadership of place
  • financial planning and viability
  • organisational leadership and governance
  • capacity to deliver.

The aim is to create an interactive space where councils can come together to share learning and support each other.

The LGA is currently working with our partners and councils to make sure we get this right.

To produce a single shared view of a council’s innovation and efficiency needs, a ‘super user’ must be identified to use the additional functionality of the tool to collate and finalise contributions.

A full version of the hub will be made live at the LGA Annual Conference and Exhibition in July.
