Helping councils develop innovative, efficient and sustainable approaches in care and health services
Efficiency and sustainability
Our efficiency and sustainability work will help councils and care and health partners nationally and locally to develop efficient, effective and sustainable approaches to supporting vulnerable adults within reduced budgets. It aims to:
- improve outcomes for service users by promoting their wellbeing and independence
- deliver savings by reducing/delaying the need for state funded care and ensuring greater efficiency
- support the sector to develop different community based services as an alternative to state funded care
- help to make a paradigm shift in perceptions and culture of staff and residents.

Strengths based social care
Driven by the Care Act, councils are increasingly adopting a strengths based approach to social care building on the strengths of individuals, families, groups and organisations to aid recovery and well-being. We are beginning to identify and share good practice in this approach.
