Putting culture and sport at the heart of commissioning

We have launched a resource pack and a guide for councils to support the commissioning process in culture and sport.

Culture and sport have a significant contribution to make to improving outcomes for individuals and communities but they are not always involved fully when it comes to commissioning services to improve outcomes for children and young people, older and vulnerable adults. Here they can help deliver health improvements, particularly to those in greatest need.

Councillors responsible for culture and sport have a key role to play in engaging with their colleagues in strategic service planning and commissioning. They must make the case for the contribution culture and sport can make to wider community services and ensure culture and sport services are ‘commissioner ready'.
