The report of the LGA's Corporate Peer Challenge, held in January 2015, has now been published. A Local Government Association (LGA) spokesman said:
"This positive report reflects the hard work of everyone at the LGA and the improvements we have made over the last few years.
"The review found a huge amount of positive work we do to effectively represent local government and particularly highlighted the success of our lobbying and influencing. Our sector-led improvement work is also seen as one of our major strengths and something councils really value.
"The report concludes the LGA is in a good position to deal with future challenges and continue working closely with elected members.
"We now have an action plan to address areas requiring some further work. This includes ongoing discussions with elected members about how the work through our boards can be better coordinated while a significant programme of work is also underway to address how we can better use technology and become more commercial."
