Themes from March 2021 Childhood Obesity Trailblazer Assembly

The Trailblazer Assembly, held in March 2021, provided an opportunity for people involved in the Trailblazers and others working on childhood obesity to explore the lessons from the programme to date.

Over 170 people participated in the online event which included a set of provocations, a Trailblazer world café and two sets of workshops. This report summarises the outcome of the discussion.

This is an important time to take stock of the emerging lessons from the Trailblazer Programme. The experience of COVID-19 has exposed the nature of health inequalities and their impact on communities. The same factors are relevant to the incidence of childhood obesity. Action to tackle childhood obesity mirrors the government’s aspiration to build back better, linking action to secure inclusive growth, protect the environment and promote health and wellbeing.
