The Recruitment Reset Programme – FAQs

Frequently asked questions about the Recruitment Reset Programme.

What happens if there isn’t enough space for everyone who applies?

The LGA workforce team has created resources with the aim of supporting councils review and develop their existing recruitment practices. You can find our recruitment related material, which includes resources such as our early careers recruitment toolkit and Recruitment Best practice using the six P’s. You can also find additional information on our graduate Impact schemes. We will be publishing our Recruitment Reset Maturity model shortly. The LGA will review sector interest in the recruitment reset programme, which may lead to future delivery and will keep you updated.

Is the place for just one person per council or can we take part as a team?

We recommend one individual from each council attending the sessions and working with us directly on the Recruitment Reset programme. Of course, we appreciate in the background there may be multiple individuals or a team working on developing recruitment processes, however, for attending sessions and liaising with us we recommend having one individual.

If I need more support during the programme, is it available?

We have created a programme that includes support and engagement to make a positive impact on council’s recruitment processes. The time allocated to attend briefings and sessions allows for the council to take away key actions and where appropriate address these. If you do wish to receive additional support, we are happy to have a conversation and discuss what support may be required and the associated costs.

What happens after the programme?

We encourage the council to work through the actions and continue to review their recruitment practices. The Recruitment Reset Maturity model will support in continuing to develop your recruitment practices. We will be keen to keep in touch with your council to check progress and celebrate your success.

What happens if our council starts the Recruitment Reset Programme but can’t commit to the whole programme?

We recommend that the council and lead individual participating in the Recruitment Reset Programme commits to the whole 10 weeks. If for any reason you believe other projects or responsibilities may take you or your council away from the programme, we would recommend either considering another individual to lead or to register for the programme in the future. To make a success of the programme and to get the most out of it, we do ask for councils to attend the whole 10 sessions and allocate time to move forward with the actions.

What happens next?

If you are interested in applying for the recruitment reset model, please complete the brief recruitment reset programme application form. We will be holding briefing sessions on Wednesday 11 September, 11.30 – 12.30, which will be an opportunity to hear more about the programme and the costs.
