PAS has produced four guides to help Local Planning Authorities ensure that they have undertaken all the necessary processes to comply with the different legislation and regulations in supporting the production of Neighbourhood Plans and Orders.  These have been updated to take account of the guidance included in the National Planning Practice Guidance (Beta version) published for consultation by the Department of Communities and Local Government in August 2013.

In addition, we have produced a checklist of the requirements for producing a neighbourhood development plan that councils can use to check off each of the stages and actions for a local authority to take in the production of a neighbourhood development plan.

Clearly as more neighbourhood planning documents are produced and case law develops, our understanding of how provisions are interpreted will increase and these will be kept under review. We would welcome any comments on all four of these documents as they are indicative of evolving good practice.
