This report presents the results of the 34th round of polling conducted in February 2023.

The survey was conducted by the Local Government Association’s Research and Information team in October-November 2022 to gather information about local authorities’ plans and preparations in case of severe weather

Six key indicators are used to measure residents’ views of their local council. Respondents are also asked to indicate their level of satisfaction with nine council services. Other questions focus on perceptions of safety, trust in politicians and government, and media coverage of councils. Additional questions are occasionally asked.

From May 2022 to September 2022 the LGA conducted a survey across all 322 councils in England and Wales, to capture the views of councils outside of London see whether they would benefit from having the same powers as London in handing out fixed penalty notices (FPNs) to offenders.

In October 2021 the LGA conducted a survey of the climate change officers of all councils in England. The purposes of the survey were to assess what actions local authorities are taking to combat climate change, to assess their future needs for support in this area, and to evaluate the climate change sector support offer provided by the LGA.

This report presents the findings of a round of public polling conducted in February and March 2022.
