With the new Government’s first Budget just days away, and with the Prime Minister promising to ‘fix social care once and for all’, this short publication sets out the main issues that we believe need to be addressed to ensure that people can live the lives they want to lead, and the kind of action we want to see from Government.

The Making Safeguarding Personal Outcomes Framework (MSPOF) was developed to provide a means of promoting and measuring practice that supports an outcomes focus and person led approach to safeguarding adults. 

The briefing is aimed at front line practitioners and operational managers in all organisations that have a role in safeguarding adults. It is aimed at leaders at all levels and local councillors. It can also be used by anyone interested or involved in safeguarding adults because ‘safeguarding is everyone’s business’.

The LGA and the Social Care Institute for Excellence have joined up to produce an accessible and practical resource that supports local systems in fulfilling their ambition of integration.

This briefing is designed to reinforce and build on earlier work on good practice when making safeguarding personal for health and social care commissioners and providers.

These case studies illustrate outcome focused practice in safeguarding adults in line with the Making Safeguarding Personal approach. They are from nine council areas who put forward case studies.

Around the country many councils are working with people, providers of care, the voluntary and community sector and health partners to ensure that information is shared, and people’s needs met. In this paper you will read examples of where councils and other partners are working together to make this happen.

To mark the one year anniversary of our consultation, this new publication gives a number of perspectives on two broad issues: what is happening to adult social care on the ground and what life is like for people who experience care and support; and what the context is to the debate about the future of adult social care and where that might go next.

The LGA in collaboration with NHS Digital is grant funding digital innovation in social care, with projects ranging from new assistive technology to data analytics to predict demand. Apply now for the third wave of the programme – deadline to apply is 7 March 2019.
