Bath and North East Somerset Council does not permit animals to be given away as prizes at events and funfairs on council-owned land. Of the three established funfairs which visit the Bath and North East Somerset area, two have never given pets as prizes in the history of their funfair and one has not permitted this activity in many years (more than 10 years).
Here is the link to the Council’s Events Policy and the section on restricted events is at S 20.1. We state we have the right to refuse permission and this includes activities which cause harm to animals.
Not all funfairs are members of the Showmen’s Guild but for information, here is the section from the Showmen’s Guild Rules 2020 which refers to ‘Animals as Prizes’ at page 68.
