Our local councils

The Liberal Democrats have just under 3,400 councillors across the UK, currently leading 76 councils across England and Wales. Lib Dem Councillors have oversight of over £17 billion of public funds and lead or are part of the administration of councils which serve a combined population of over 13 million people.


Seventy six councils are currently led by Liberal Democrats, either in outright control or in alliance/coalition with other parties and in addition we provide the Deputy Leadership of another 16 councils, giving a total of 91.

Over 40 of these councils are majority controlled by the Liberal Democrats.
