Empty Homes back to use

The city council has a dedicated Empty Homes Team tasked with bringing empty properties back into use in the city. As an Investment Partner with the HCA the Council were successful in their bid for funding from the 2011-2015 Affordable Homes Programme and have secured £225,000 to help return 15 long term empty properties back into use. The Council will work alongside Chapter 1, a housing association who will provide housing and management support and their partner Shekinah Mission based in Plymouth who provide work, training and volunteering opportunities for vulnerable homeless people.

The Empty Homes Team are currently working towards bringing over 280 empty homes in the city back into use using a toolbox of initiatives ranging from offering grants and an introduction to the Council's private sector leasing schemes through to enforcement action.
