We ran a series of workshops for local authorities with a focus on biodiversity net gain and nature recovery in Autumn 2022. Slides and recordings from these are available on our event page. PAS Heads of Planning and Rising Stars Conference

2nd & 3rd March 2023

The 2023 annual PAS Chief Planners Conference was held on the 2nd and 3rd March 2023 at a time of key changes for the sector. The focus of the conference was on the planning reform agenda and the present challenges of local planning authority services. Presentations from the conference sessions are now available.

Nutrient neutrality - website updated Nov 22

Following the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill and the announcement of a strategic Nutrient Mitigation Scheme led by Natural England, we have updated our nutrient neutrality web page. 

We have also added a Habitats Regulations briefing note for LPAs. This is intended to support decision-making by the local authority.

Development Management Challenge Toolkit - Updated guidance and practical health check toolkit 

August 2021

This latest version of the PAS Development Management Challenge Toolkit updates the original version that was prepared in 2015.  It aims to provide a ‘health check’ for Planning Authorities and act as a simple way to develop an action plan for improvements to their Development Management service.
