Wirral Council was faced with the twin challenges of a history of failing adult social care services and a serious level of overspend in the council allocated budget. This case study forms part of our demand management, adult social care, resource.
Following a series of reviews into social care, the council has addressed both of these challenges by moving to a new model. For example, the council has carried out a procurement process and streamlined the number of providers who provide domiciliary care services. This has helped to sustain the price at the same level and is delivering better outcomes.
