The Local Innovation Awards Scheme (LIA scheme) is a prestigious scheme that recognises excellence in local government. It was set up to disseminate best practice in service delivery throughout local government.

Pathfinder projects

In April 2005, a number of local authorities in England embarked on a two-year pilot programme, jointly initiated by the Local Government Association (LGA) and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
