The Government has announced that children's public health commissioning for 0 to five-year-olds will transfer from NHS England to local government on 1 October 2015.

The Government has today agreed the guidance for the £3.8 billion ‘Better Care Fund'. The fund is a real opportunity to join up health and care to deliver better services for people. The LGA and NHS England have co-produced a range of materials to support local areas in completing the Plan.

The LGA, with support from national partners (NHS England, ASASS, Public Health England, ADCS, Monitor, Department of Health), have appointed Integrating Care to lead on the development of a series of value cases and a toolkit to help local areas, through Health and Wellbeing Boards. understand the impact of different models of integrated care on service users and cost across the health and care system.
The £3.8 billion Better Care Fund (formerly Integration Transformation Fund) was announced by the Government in the June 2013 Spending Round, to ensure a transformation in integrated health and social care. The BCF is a single pooled budget to support health and social care services to work more closely together in local areas.
