This online lunchtime session delivered in July 2023 was principally focused on the role of officers understanding BNG Metric and checklist when validating applications.
Natural England ran an event introducing the Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Metric and checklist for local authority officers validating planning applications.
During the session Natural England covered:
- Understand the assessment and review process of the Metric that will form part of a planning application once Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) is mandatory in November 2023
- Introduced and navigated around a completed Metric and reviewing its outputs
- Giving attendees an awareness of the Metric checklist to be used during a planning application’s validation
