The use of PPAs for energy security planning proposals 17th October 2023

This workshop was held jointly with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) as an online event on 17th October 2023. The aim of the workshop was to help participants better understand how to progress some of the more innovative zero-carbon energy security projects through the planning system. It focused on the use of Planning Performance Agreements (PPAs) to manage the planning process for these projects using the national best practice guidance that has been produced by the Planning Advisory Service (PAS).

The workshop included a presentation by the DESNZ representative, Steve Densley, who introduced the event and gave the context for why the use of PPAs may be particularly helpful for considering the complex and often unique issues associated with energy security development proposals.

Peter Ford from PAS then took the participants through a step-by-step guide in using PPAs based on best practice from the research carried out by PAS in 2022/23

Following the presentations, there was a general discussion on the use of PPAs for energy security development proposals.
