What is the project?
The aim of the project is to engage with communities in Bristol, with support from the newly elected Mayor who resides in the City Office.
Who are the partners?
Bristol City Council, the University of the West of England and the University of Bristol.
Why was this project chosen?
The Mayor was seen as a clear choice for local place-based leadership, as it is currently still being developed and therefore could fit with the Leading Places agenda.
Why Bristol?
There are multiple stakeholders that are led by the elected Mayor which include Bristol City Council, the city's two universities, businesses, the voluntary sector, trades unions and other stakeholders. This means the Mayor's office is a great hub to bring these different organisations together.
Why did Bristol choose the Leading Places programme?
Leading Places was chosen because of the resources they provided for facilitation. Representatives from the Leadership Foundation were allocated to each project, and aided the discussions in the Senior Leadership Group and the Challenge Group. Leading Places also provided contact with other case studies for sharing best practice in other areas.
What are the benefits of the project?
The project will benefit the different constituencies and stakeholders represented in the City Office through the facilitation provided by Leading Places, and support long term health outcomes.
