Responding to a report by the Centre for Mental Health and the NHS Confederation proposing a ten point plan to tackle pressure on mental health services, Cllr David Fothergill, Chairman of the Local Government Association’s Community Wellbeing Board said:

“As this report reveals, mental health services are under significant pressure and face challenges to keep up with increasing demand.

“Councils play a vital role in promoting good mental health and supporting people with learning disabilities and autism in the community.

“However, they need long term sustainable funding to make this happen and ensure that everyone who accesses mental health services in our local areas gets the support they need.”
