The purpose of the survey was to help inform LGA understanding of how councils are promoting active travel and to identify key funding challenges and policy barriers that prevent them from doing more.

The LGA commissioned Populus to conduct a poll of consumers to understand their views and motivations for reusing items and buying second hand products. 

This is the updated version of our Local Government Data Maturity Model. The model sets out a description of the behaviours and practices in relation to data that we would expect to see in local authorities at each level of data maturity.

The survey collects details of individual local government posts; the results are based on around 850,000 posts. This not only improves the quality of the data but enables us to produce robust estimates of pay by occupational groups.

The survey was conducted by the LGA's Research and Information team. The LGA will use findings from the survey to help support local authorities. This summary report provides data on key workforce metrics.

Benchmarking in LG Inform Where councils have agreed to it, identifiable data has been made available in LG Inform covering some of the metrics found in the Workforce Survey along with data from the Local Government Earnings Survey.

This survey provides information on key elements of the workforce within local authorities in England. The figures provided by councils include school support staff, but exclude teachers.
