Working with the independant consultancy Quod, we have been seeking to assess the impacts of the introduction of Use Class E on town centres and high streets across the country as well as understand how local planning authorities are responding.
Part of the study, undertaken from June to November 2022, included research into a number of case study areas. These explored experience in contrasting areas. Three of the case studies from the wider project are published here, following a PAS event in February 2023 to disseminate learning from the study.
The case studies have been chosen to show impacts in different types of high street and town centre in different areas of the country, as well as good practice and innovation by local planners.
